Profile
David Banes is Chair of the Equitable AI Alliance, Director of David Banes Access and Inclusion Services and co-founder of Global Symbols. He has worked in assistive technology for almost 40 years, leading services in Europe and the Middle East and supporting projects internationally.
His work spans assistive technology systems, accessibility, AAC, inclusive artificial intelligence, education, employment, research, evaluation and the implementation of emerging technologies.
Experience
David began his career in education, including work as a teacher and special-school principal, before moving into digital inclusion and assistive technology leadership. He later served as CEO of Mada, the Qatar Assistive Technology Center, from 2010 to 2016.
Today he works with public bodies, NGOs, disabled persons organisations, researchers and technology companies to connect strategic ambitions with practical delivery.
